LUKE SCHLEWITZ WINS GOLF GTI 16V CHAMPIONSHIP!
In only his second season of racing, 21-year old Luke Schlewitz from Spalding is polishing the silverware after a dominant season in the hotly-contested Golf GTI racing series, organised by the 750 Motor Club and supported by Toyo Tires.
Luke’s immaculately prepared car, built and maintained for him by his family’s company Jabbasport - a VW Audi tuning firm in Crowland - was consistently at the front of the grid in a race series that took part around some of the country’s best-known race tracks, including Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
“I’ve had a great season, and it’s been fantastic racing all the way through,” smiled Luke. “This type of championhip is a great proving ground for the stars of the future, and I’m hoping my driving can attract the attentions of potential sponsors, as I have now got my sights set on the Britcar trophy, which is televised and has even been featured on BBC’s Top Gear.”
Luke’s parents Brian and Carole are thoroughly proud of their son, and wish him well in his bid to take on the big boys in next year’s Britcar championship.
“He’s the next Stig, that’s for sure!” joked Luke’s father. “He’s always been a fast lad, from his days as a kart champion at Peterborough Raceway to the Golf GTI series he’s just won. Luke’s really got the talent to take it to the top, and we’re so proud of him.”
Luke is hoping this success will attract some local big names who could support him in his bid to become Britcar champion in 2010 and asks interested sponsors to contact him at Jabbasport on 01733 211779.
